How does a municipality create value through welfare technology?

The Municipality of Middelfart wanted to learn more about which welfare technologies could help create the most value for the individual citizen, and help them realize their dreams and have a more independent everyday life.
What would happen if we made a buffet for the citizens, and gave them the opportunity to choose the technology that best suited their needs in their daily lives?

02 - Actions

25 test-families help us

25 test-families across different target groups who live in Middelfart municipality and receive support from the Social and Health Administration was elected.
For one year, they chose and tested different welfare technological solutions and evaluated how good they were for them.
The basic idea was, that the citizens are experts in their own lives and therefore has to be a part of selecting that welfare technology that suits them best.
The municipal has a supporting and guiding function regarding the citizens’ choice of technology.

03 - Result

Increase in independence and satisfaction

The participating citizens and families experienced a higher degree of independence in their daily lives.
They also experienced that the collaboration with the municipal’s employees regarding wishes of, and choice of technologies was improved significantly.
Furthermore, the citizens experienced the exchange of experiences with like-minded citizens as being very positive.
